Minimum Job Qualifications
Age: Must have reached the age of twenty-one (21) years.

Residence: Must reside within Louisiana.

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited high school or have a valid certificate of equivalency issued by a state department of education.

License: Must have a valid Louisiana driver's license.

Physical Condition: Eyesight must be 20/20 or better, corrected to 20/20 vision with normal color vision and depth perceptions. Must be in good physical condition with the ability to withstand arduous physical exertion when required. Must agree to take a pre-employment physical at our cost and submit to drug screening when required to do so.

Character: Must possess high moral character and have no prior felony convictions.

Training Requirements
Deputy Marshals will be required to undergo extensive training which will include:

  The attendance of a P.O.S.T. certified police academy by all new deputies.

  Continuous in-service training as required by the department training officer.

  Attendance of educational seminars or special schools deemed necessary for his/her job description.
